Mechanical Modeling

How Machines Work has aired almost all the episodes I worked on so I can now share my work from that project. I must say I'm very excited about it. This post is clips of all the modeling I did. I suspect I'll get the rest of my texturing renders early next week which means those will get posted mid next week. I feel all accomplished and stuff.

Breakdown:

shots 1 and 2: Modeled Train
shot 3: Modeled Buildings, Quarry and Ground
shots 4 and 5: Modeled Fire Truck
shots 6 and 7: Modeled Exterior and Interior of Streetcar as well as T Posts
shot 8: Modeled Rapier heads

April progress

I've been fiddling with her some more. It occurred to me that her face was hideous and needed help. I was already working on it when a nice fellow gave me some good advice on how to fix it even more. I was looking at Neera from Planet 51 to get idea on how to girl my troll up a bit. I think she's a pretty nifty reference for it since Neera's all alien but still super cute.

I've only got one render for today. I really only changed the Troll's face. I should get to UVs some time soon. I may be procrastinating a little bit on that.

Celina some more

Working on pages for a prettier throwaway. It's the character I designed to learn flash with.

Apartment Troll progress

I'm all excited. She's starting to come together. She's got clothes, and hair, and jewellery, and a basic light setup, and some simple phong and anisitropic shaders on her, and everything. There's still some smallish details to add in like a couple hair doo-dads and her battle skirt still needs to look like it got mauled by a bedazzler. Other than that she's just about ready for UVs. I'll probably fidget with her clothing colours some more, but her skin, hair and eye colours will stay relatively the same with only minor tweaking.

On to the picture overload! Renders with smoothing turned on:

Screencaps of meshflow with Smoothing turned off, although it looks like I deleted a couple smooth nodes when blowing away history. Those will be fixed later this week.

That's a super shiny phong on her. For some reason the surface shader I used on her was showing up striped in my viewport.

continued progress

Another couple renders of today's progress for the apartment troll. Now she has fingers and a rounder head and significantly less bulgy eyes, and more teeth and a tongue, and a bit of hair, and more bony bits.

Teaser

Zed Oh Em Gee! Nekkid House Troll! I was working on her some more over the weekend and last night. I threw a couple simple shaders on her to get an idea of colours. I think her hair will need to be red and orange, and that she will need to be speckled as well. She's got toes too. I'm a bit excited about her toes.

Cleans and Sketches Now and Then

So I totally found a pink glitter gel pen in my jar of miscellaneous pens on Monday which also happened to be a fantastically mild day. Ever since I've been drawing cute girls in swimsuits with the glitter pen which unfortunately died while I was waiting for lagtacular extra geometry to load into my scene files at my internship today.

Long story short I got a couple doodles I want to clean out of it and one rough that I kind of liked.

I've also been cleaning up some of my sketches in ToonBoom. They're both self portraits since I don't draw myself very often and wanted a new drawing self portrait for avatar purposes. The first came out of drawing people I used to know in high school as background characters for No Pants are Tied to My Heart and the second came out of taking that face shape and making it look a little more like I do now.

Ta-da!

Also I totally had the chelsea with blond bangs and purple fuzzy bits at least two years before Yu-Gi-Oh came out. Just for the record.
